ACTION TOGETHER NEW JERSEY – SUSSEX COUNTY TO HOST A UNITY VIGIL AGAINST HATE
September 19, 2017

The Sussex County Chapter of Action Together-New Jersey (ATNJ) is hosting a vigil to oppose anti-Semitism and hatred in our communities. Stand together with religious leaders, community leaders, our schools, and our local businesses in a show of unity to denounce hatred and bigotry.

The recent deplorable acts of hatred against the Airport Diner in Wantage, New Jersey must be condemned. The community came together immediately following the vandalism to repaint the diner’s property, but we must do more. Join ATNJ-Sussex County and fellow community members to stand up to this hatred and participate in a vigil to tell the world that hate has no home here.

“We are doing this because this is what we are about. Silence is unacceptable and we will not sit by and accept hate crimes,” said Erin Jacobus, member of Sussex Unity Vigil Against Hate group, and Chairperson of the Sussex County Chapter of Action Together New Jersey. Various community, religious, and political leaders have been invited to attend the event, though no politicians are currently slated to speak.

ABOUT ACTION TOGETHER NEW JERSEY:

Who We Are

We are the largest grassroots group in NJ and we are growing every day as NJ citizens join to fight for our values. We share a passion for equal rights, for progressive ideals, and for building a brighter future for all Americans. We are your neighbors, your friends, and your coworkers. And while we don’t always see eye to eye on every issue (just look at the pork roll/Taylor ham divide), we are residents banded together to help secure a more inclusive and progressive future for our state and our country. We invite you to join us and to be at the forefront of that change.  ATNJ is part of the grassroots national network, Action Together Network (ATN), which numbers around 750,000 grassroots members nationwide.

A few of the causes we value and fight for include:

Racial Justice, Reproductive Rights, Environmental Concerns, Women’s Rights, LGBTQ+ Rights, Common Sense Gun Laws, Immigration, Education, Healthcare, Social Services, Criminal Justice Reform, Electoral Reform, Finance and Economic Reform, Smart Foreign Policy, Workers’ Rights, Civil Rights Protection and Expansion, and Military and Veterans Issues.
