Help Us Fight Offshore Drilling

Help us fight offshore drilling!

GOAL: Stop the BOEM (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management) from issuing leases for oil drilling off New Jersey’s coasts!

DEADLINE: March 9!

ACTION: Submit a public comment to stand against offshore drilling by visiting this link and clicking on the button that says “Comment Now!”

SAMPLE SCRIPT: “I oppose offshore drilling. The risks of oil drilling far outweigh the benefits. The public deserves a comprehensive accounting of the climate change impacts of these proposals, and any arguments as to the necessity are negated by alternative energy sources available with present technology anyhow. It is estimated conservatively that over 4,000GW of offshore wind power could be found by building wind turbines along U.S. coasts, which is four times the amount of energy we need. Offshore wind does not contribute to our carbon footprint and combined with investments in battery storage would reliably provide clean, sustainable energy. If leases are to be extended, extend them for offshore wind farms, not for offshore drilling! Thank you.”

REASON: The number of public comments speaks to the will of the people! It establishes public opinion on the proposal and provides basis for those who might sue on our behalf.
