Help Keep Science in Environmental Policy

Keep sound science in environmental policy decision making! Stop Pruitt’s efforts to reduce included science! We need your help!

GOALS:

(1) Submit a public comment opposing the changes to science-advised policy that would require only fully public data to be included, since private medical records have a rightful place advising new policy addressing environmental issues with public health impacts!

(2) Ask U.S. House Representatives to support H.R. 5604, the Healthy Environment for Children Act, which would “prohibit any reduction, consolidation, or termination of offices and activities related to science research within the Environmental Protection Agency!”

DEADLINE: For public comments, August 17!

ACTION 1: Go to this URL ( https://tinyurl.com/IncludeScience ) and submit a public comment opposing the “Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science” plan, which would eliminate private/confidential medical data and other sensitive information from the science allowed for inclusion in policy making. Click “Comment Now!” to submit your public comment!

ACTION 2: Call your U.S. House Representative at (202) 224-3121 and ask them to sign on as a cosponsor of H.R. 5604, the Healthy Environment for Children Act, which would stop Scott Pruitt from cutting medical science and other partically-confidential data out of science-advised policy!

SAMPLE SCRIPT, IF NEEDED:
I stand opposed to the proposed “Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science” rule because this is not transparent at all. Private medical data has a rightful place in determining policy that impacts public health and environmental best practices. This proposed rule change would devastate science-advised policy practices and only further enable fossil fuel lobbyists and private interests to dismantle our EPA for their own aims. Please do not move forward with this rule change. Keep private medical data and other nonpublic science included in determining best practices, rules and regulations for our EPA. Thank you.
