For Immediate Release:

CEO of Center for American Progress Action Fund to get the Sharing in Action Award

MADISON, NJ, May 29, 2018 – Neera Tanden, CEO of the Center for American Progress Action Fund will be in New Jersey to receive the Sharing in Action Award from Action Together New Jersey (ATNJ), the largest grassroots group in New Jersey.

As newly engaged grassroots activists, we have benefited from the knowledge and expertise of many who have extended a hand to us. From the beginning, the team at CAP Action have openly and purposefully connected our activists to many events and have included ATNJ (and many other grassroots groups across the nation) in national coalitions for legislative actions, civic events, and organizational seminars. As the face and leader of the Center for American Progress, Neera Tanden has empowered the team at CAP Action to share the substantive research on the policies affecting Americans so that we can all act together in concert to defend our democracy.

“The work from CAP Action Fund, such as The Moscow Project, The Trumpcare Toolkit, #IamStillIn Campaign, and the Trump Tax Toolkits created by their “deep bench” of talented staff members have been greatly used by members of our grassroots chapters (and by other groups nationwide). To intentionally coordinate and to involve nascent organizations demonstrate the power and value in the sharing of ideas and resources,” said Uyen “Winn” Khuong, Executive Director of ATNJ.

“Action Together New Jersey is doing incredible work to address the needs of every person who calls the Garden State home, and I’m honored to receive this award,” said Neera Tanden, CEO of The Center for American Progress Action Fund, “Even more importantly, I’m grateful for the opportunity to fight side-by-side to help make New Jersey — and every state in our country — fairer, freer, and more just for all.”

The elegant event will give ATNJ leaders, activists, supporters, elected officials, and their guests an opportunity to gather for an evening of gourmet food, networking, socializing, and celebration of the accomplishments of the past year, and to raise critical funds to support the group’s work heading into the upcoming midterm elections and beyond. Limited tickets are still available and sponsorships can be found here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/atnjgala
