ATNJ GIVEN COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD FOR WORK WITH MUSLIM-AMERICAN COMMUNITY

June 20, 2017-

Action Together NJ members were honored to be invited by the Pakistan American Council (PACUSA) to the 6th Annual Grand Interfaith Ramadan Dinner on June 15, 2017 in Edison. Action Together NJ was presented with a Community Service Award for its work in support of the Muslim American community, including standing in support of and working with our Muslim American brothers and sisters.

“We are honored and humbled to receive this award.  Action Together New Jersey is committed to supporting our brothers and sisters in the Muslim American community by “showing up” for our community members, by taking intentional steps to be inclusive, and to fight against Islamphobia,” stated Executive Director and Co-Founder Uyen Khuong.

This wonderful event included many special guests, including local and state representatives and people from many diverse backgrounds. Action Together NJ members in attendance included Executive Director and Co-Founder Uyen Khuong; Stacy Negron-Sheckells, Clare Eggers, Amie Maria, Tammi Bathke, Fern Goodhart, Lisa Cenneno, and Charmi Patel-Pena.

ABOUT ACTION TOGETHER NEW JERSEY:

Who We Are
We are the largest grassroots group in NJ and is growing every day as NJ citizens join to fight for our values. We share a passion for equal rights, for progressive ideals, and for building a brighter future for all Americans. We are your neighbors, your friends, and your coworkers. And while we don’t always see eye to eye on every issue (just look at the pork roll/Taylor ham divide), we are residents banded together to help secure a more inclusive and progressive future for our state and our country. We invite you to join us and to be at the forefront of that change. ATNJ is part of the grassroots national network, Action Together Network (ATN), which numbers around 750,000 grassroots members nationwide.
A few of the causes we value and fight for include:

Racial Justice, Reproductive Rights, Environmental Concerns, Women’s Rights, LGBTQ+ Rights, Common Sense Gun Laws, Immigration, Education, Healthcare, Social Services, Criminal Justice Reform, Electoral Reform, Finance and Economic Reform, smart Foreign Policy, Workers’ Rights, Civil Rights Protection and Expansion, and Military and Veterans Issues.
