ATNJ Endorses Lisa Bhimani and Darcy Draeger for State Assembly in LD 25

MADISON, NJ, May 15, 2019 – Action Together New Jersey (ATNJ) is proud to announce our endorsements of Lisa Bhimani and Darcy Draeger for State Assembly in Legislative District (LD) 25.

Lisa Bhimani was a practicing physician who was felled by an illness so severe that she had to quit her job in order to recover. This was one of the turning points for Bhimani in her decision to run for elected office. “ Important decisions are being made every day that affect public health and access to care for millions of New Jersey residents, but out of the 80 Assembly members in Trenton today only one is a doctor. I want to bring my expertise as a doctor to the statehouse, and fight to ensure no New Jersey family has to make a choice between paying their bills and getting the care they need. There is an affordability crisis in our state, and for too many New Jersey families that means having to choose between putting food on the table and getting the medication and care they need to live happy, healthy lives,” said Lisa Bhimani.

Her running mate, Darcy Draeger, is running for office for similar reasons. As a farmer and small business owner in Chester, Draeger understands how hard New Jerseyans have to work to make ends meet.

“New Jersey should be a state where people can afford to start out in life, build a family, and retire without having to live paycheck to paycheck or worry about being priced out of their own communities. Instead of tackling these critical issues, too often our politicians in Trenton make decisions based on partisan politics or for their own personal gain, not what’s best for our state. Regular people like you and me are left to foot the bill with soaring taxes.”

With a majority of members who are women and in the middle class, ATNJ believes that candidates who understand the plight of working class New Jerseyans are best to serve. “I support Lisa and Darcy for State Assembly because I broadly support their platform, but more than that I know that they are committed, caring women on a mission to make NJ a better place to live and work. I’m excited to support such qualified women from my district.” Elizabeth Vinci Sisti, ATNJ Project Manager and Morris Township resident.
