Notes From ATNJ

My fellow Advocates,  Once again we are subjected to the insensitive rhetoric of individuals who choose to belittle what they do not understand. I applaud our Attorney General Gurbir Grewal and so many other Americans who choose to give back to their communities through public service amid constant ridicule for just being who they are. Quote of the Day: “My name, for the record, is Gurbir Grewal. I’m the 61st Attorney General of NJ. I’m a Sikh American. I have three daughters. And yesterday, I told them to turn off the radio.”— New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal. Source: http://observer.com/2018/07/nj-politics-digest-radio-hosts-suspended-gurbir-grewal-comments/ Thank you, Mr. Grewal, for being the type of leader all of our children can look up too. To our Sikh and Asian brothers and sisters, we stand with you. For when one of us is attacked, we all must respond. No longer should anyone have to dim their light to allow those who are closed-minded to feel comfortable in their racism. My fellow New Jerseyans, every time you see injustice, call it out.  Do not allow a few small-minded individuals to taint what is great about our State:  its diversity! Stand Up. Speak Up with Action Together New Jersey. Rachel Green Civil Rights, Director Action Together New Jersey

ATNJ Strongly Condemns Today's SCOTUS Ruling On the Muslim Ban

Yesterday’s 5 to 4 ruling from the Supreme Court – is frightening!

It speaks to the damage caused when we as voters do not take the right to vote seriously!  “When one of us hurts, we all hurt!” The most vivid manifestations of our worst selves are paranoia, conspiracy theories, and fear of others. Unfortunately, this has been a part of our …

ATNJ Strongly Condemns Today’s SCOTUS Ruling On the Muslim Ban

Earlier today, the Supreme Court of the United States, in a 5-4 ruling, upheld the Trump Administration’s ban on several Muslim-majority countries. Action Together New Jersey strongly condemns the Supreme Court’s decision and will join partner organizations to reduce the impact of the Administration’s racially-charged policies. We believe today’s decision will be …

be a hero

What makes a hero?

My fellow Advocates, What is a hero, a patriot? Last weekend we found out what those words truly mean. James Shaw Jr., a lone individual without regard for his own safety, acted to protect dozens of lives. When he rushed the active shooter and fought for his life, to pry the …

March for Our Lives 2018

A Conversation From the March for Our Lives 2018

This gentleman, Tom, was the first marcher. On a windy and chilly early morning, we spotted a lone man dressed in red waving a flag sitting by himself on the bench facing the road away from us working inside in Town Hall. I went out and introduced myself, holding an …
