Don’t let the U.S. have a higher carbon footprint in 2050 than we do now! Fight back!
GOAL: Push Congress to rejoin the Paris Agreement on our behalf!
ACTION: Call your members of Congress (all three, both Senators and 1 House Representative) at (202) 224-3121.
SCRIPT: “Hello, my name is _________ and I’m calling from [town, zip] to ask Congress to recommit to the Paris Agreement immediately. The latest report from the Energy Department says they plan further fossil fuel expansion and a higher carbon footprint in 2050 for the U.S. than we even have now. This is an unacceptable path ahead of further threats to us all from climate change. Please renew commitment to the Paris Agreement immediately. Thank you.”
REASON: According to a new projection from the Energy Department, the U.S. carbon footprint will be slightly higher in 2050 than it is now under the current administration’s plans to continue with fossil fuel development. Not only is addressing climate change a matter of national security but it’s a matter of public health and wellness, as we struggle to secure safe coastlines and an inhabitable planet for future generations. We must reverse course and rejoin the Paris Agreement!
